1. Who are you?

I define myself today as an Experiential Wedding Author. My journey has never been about simply planning or designing weddings, it has been about creating living narratives. Experiences that are not only seen, but deeply felt and remembered long after they happen. I believe creativity has no limits, only layers waiting to be discovered and before I ever designed experiences, I learned how to listen to people, to time, to silence. That ability to listen shaped everything that came after. Fatherhood, in particular, transformed my perspective. It taught me presence, it showed me what love truly feels like, not as an idea, but as something real, raw, and lived. And that shifted the way I approach every story I am invited to create.

For over 30 years, I have travelled the world with curiosity, respect, and an open heart, moving across cultures, rituals, and ways of feeling. Art became my territory. Travel became my language. Creation became my act of courage. My work exists in a sensory space, through light, sound, rhythm, silence, and energy. This is where I design. This is where I author experiences that are not just meant to be seen, but to be felt at the deepest level.

There are no formulas in what I do, no templates, no repetition.  Each project begins from zero, from the essence of the couple, and evolves into something that could not exist for anyone else. I have often been described as rebellious, someone who pushed boundaries and challenged what a wedding could be. And that is true.

I have taken risks, explored unconventional ideas, and followed instinct over expectation. Many of those ideas, over time, have become trends, but for me, it was never about setting trendsit was about expanding possibilities. I don't see weddings as events. I don't even see them as something to design. I see them as emotional experiences to be authored.

I have worked internationally, collaborated across cultures, and received recognition along the way. But I am not defined by titles or awards. I am defined by what I create, and more importantly, by what people feel. What drives me is not the event itself, but the possibility of transforming something deeply personal into a shared experience that resonates with everyone present. Because I believe this: love, when it is true, is not something to be watched. It is something to be lived. And that i s what I create; experiences that transform love into memory.

2. Where are you based and which markets d o you currently serve?

I am based in Portugal, but my work has never been defined by geography or borders. Over the years, I have designed and developed weddings across Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, collaborating both directly with couples and with leading planners around the world who seek a strong creative direction.

Each destination brings a different cultural layer, and that diversity continuously shapes my perspective. Portugal remains a powerful creative base for me, not only for its beauty, but for its emotional depth, its light, and its authenticity. But the truth is, I don't serve locations, I serve stories, wherever they exist. What matters to me is not where the wedding takes place, but how deeply that place can be interpreted and transformed into an experience that feels intentional and unique.

3. How would you define your positioning today?

My positioning today is very clear: I do not operate within the traditional boundaries of wedding planning or design. I stand at the intersection of authorship, creativity, and experiential design, where the role is not to execute, but to interpret, challenge, and create meaning. What makes my work distinctive is precisely the absence of limits. There is no "right" or "wrong", only what is true, intentional, and aligned with the story we are telling. That freedom allows each project to become something unexpected and deeply personal. Luxury, for me, is not about aesthetics alone, it is about depth, emotion, and the ability to translate something intangible into a lived experience. It is about creating something that cannot be replicated, not because of complexity, but because of authenticity.

4. What does winning a WEMA Circle Award mean to you?

Receiving this recognition means being seen by a global community that values intention, creativity, and authorship at the highest level. When I was announced as a winner, what I felt most was not validation, but responsibility. Responsibility to continue contributing, evolving, and challenging both myself and the industry.

Awards, for me, are not a destination. They are a moment of reflection, a pause that reminds us that our work has impact beyond our immediate circle. They also reinforce the importance of consistency, of staying true to a vision over time, even when that vision doesn't follow conventional paths. More than anything, it motivates me to continue creating work that is meaningful, not just visually impressive. I truly belive this award is also a confirmation that I have always been on the right path.

5. What sets a winner apart today?

Excellence today is no longer about perfection, it is about intention and clarity. A true winner is someone who understands their voice and has the courage to express it, even when it challenges expectations. It is someone who doesn't follow trends, but questions them and, in some cases, redefines them. What sets a winner apart is the ability to create emotional resonance, to design experiences that go beyond aesthetics and connect with people on a deeper level.

It is also about consistency and integrity, building a body of work that reflects a clear identity over time. In today's industry, standing out is not about doing more or showing up more, or to be constantly in social media even when we have nothing relevant to be said, it is about doing something that truly matters. It is about real value and real relevancy.

6. What impact do you believe your work has had?

I believe my work has contributed to shifting the focus of the industry from aesthetics to experience. From "how it looks" to "how it feels." From visual to meaning. I have also challenged the idea that weddings need to follow a predefined structure or format. That freedom, creative, emotional, and conceptual, is where true value lives, and where innovation begins.

Through my projects, my speaking engagements, and my educational work, I aim to expand how the industry thinks, encouraging professionals to question norms and explore new possibilities. If there is one impact I hope to leave, it is this: the understanding that weddings are not simple events, they are authored experiences. And that what defines us is not how many times we appear in social media but how we inspire and impact the world.

7. How do you see WEMA Global's role?

WEMA Global is much more than a recognition platform, it is a true catalyst for transformation within the industry. By bringing together professionals from different cultures, markets, and perspectives, it creates a space where ideas can evolve and standards can be redefined. What makes this community unique is its global vision combined with a genuine intention to elevate, not just celebrate. It is not only about recognizing excellence, but about shaping what excellence means for the future. There is also a sense of responsibility within this community, a shared understanding that we are collectively influencing the direction of the industry, and that, in itself, is incredibly powerful.

8. Key challenges in your journey?

One of the biggest challenges has been staying true to a vision that does not fit into conventional structures or social media patterns. Choosing not to follow the obvious path often means facing resistance, uncertainty, and the need to constantly justify a different way of thinking. It is not always the easiest route. However, those challenges have been essential in shaping my identity and my mindset as a leader. They forced me to become more intentional, more selective, and more aligned with my purpose. They also taught me patience, understanding that meaningful work takes time to be recognized and understood.

In the end, every challenge reinforced the same idea: authenticity is not the easiest path, but it is the only sustainable one. And throughout that journey, I have always carried a very clear question with me: are clients looking for just another social-media-driven persona, or for someone who is truly authentic, unique, and capable of delivering experiences that are meaningful, memorable, and timeless?

9. What inspires you today?

Inspiration today comes from a much quieter place. It comes from people, from their stories, their emotions, their contradictions. It comes from listening, observing, and understanding what is not being said. But it also comes from the moments I share with my son, from the silence that love carries, from presence, from the simplicity of being fully there. That kind of connection changes how you see everything, including how you create.

At the same time, art has always been, and continues to be my territory. Music and performative arts in particular are a constant source of inspiration for me. They shape the way I think about rhythm, energy, movement, and emotion within an experience. They are not references, they are part of my creative language.

I also find endless inspiration in the cultures, traditions, and people I encounter through my travels. Each place, each ritual, each perspective adds another layer to how I interpret and create. That diversity keeps my work alive and evolving. I no longer look at trends as a source of inspiration. Instead, I look at life, at the in-between moments, at silence, at energy, at human connection. Creativity, for me, has become a process of interpretation rather than invention, and it is that constant search for meaning, across art, people, and life itself, that continues to keep me curious, motivated, and deeply connected to what I do.

10. What's next for you?

What comes next is not a change of direction, it is a natural expansion of my creative universe and of what it means to be an Experiential Wedding Author. I will continue designing and authoring experiences for couples, but also increasingly for wedding planners around the world who seek a deeper, more conceptual and experiential approach to their work.

My role is evolving beyond the project itself, into creative direction, interpretation, and the shaping of experiences that others can then bring to life with the same level of intention. At the same time, my focus on education continues to grow. As Director and Curator of the IADWP Academy, we are preparing to launch new programs that go far beyond technical skills. The intention is to challenge how the industry thinks, bringing more depth in mindset, positioning, creativity, and long-term value. My mentorship program will also continue evolving, becoming an even more personal and transformative journey. It is no longer just about knowledge, it is about helping professionals find clarity, identity, and the confidence to build something that is truly their own.

In parallel, I am launching "Unframed", a project that represents a very personal expansion of my authorship into new forms of expression. Through Sonic Narratives, I explore storytelling and my own feelings through music, through raw lines... I translate vision into sketches and conceptual forms and through worn forms I bring identity into fashion.
These are not separate paths. They are extensions of the same creative language. Because for me, being an Experiential Wedding Author is not limited to weddings, it is about interpreting emotion and transforming it into experience, regardless of the medium. This next phase is exactly that: not doing more, but going deeper, expanding how stories can be felt, expressed, and lived.

11. Advice to aspiring professionals

My advice is simple, but not always easy to follow: don't try to fit into the industry. Take the time to understand who you are, what you believe in, and what you truly want to create. Build from that foundation, not from external expectations or validation. This industry can sometimes encourage imitation, but real growth comes from differentiation, from having the courage to create your own path. At the same time, invest in your growth. Educate yourselt. Be curious. Be present. Join communities, attend conferences, be part of conversations that challenge you and expand your perspective.

This is not an individual journey, it is built through connection, exchange, and real relationships. Look at the industry not as a space of competitors, but as a space of opportunities, partnerships, and shared evolution. Some of the most meaningful growth comes from the people you meet, collaborate with, and learn from along the way.

It is also important to understand this: great professionals are not built on social media. Your value is not defined by the number of posts you publish or the image you project online. Social media can amplify, but it can also distort. And too often, it rewards what is visible, not what is real. A true professional is someone who creates impact, even in silence. Someone who remains faithful to what they believe in, who chooses depth over exposure, and who invests their time not in performing for an audience, but in creating experiences that are genuinely meaningful and transformative for their clients. Recognition should never be the goal, it should be the natural consequence of consistent, honest, and intentional work, because in the end, success is not built on perception. It is built on truth.
